Mia and Nathanael’s Birth Testimonial
The birth of our son did not go as originally planned, but I can confidently say that I truly enjoyed my birth experience, and I believe having Emily as a support to our family was a big factor in that outcome. Being first time parents, we were filled with questions and anxieties about who, what, where, when, and how our son would arrive. There was so much that we didn’t know! I had some complications pop up during my pregnancy, and Emily was always there to offer suggestions, insight, and join us in prayer as our little guy was growing in the womb. Our prenatal meetings felt like a coffee date with a friend - equally as fun and life-giving as it was insightful and helpful. As his due date approached, she helped us feel prepared and confident for what was to come.
After my due date had come and gone, the doctor’s suggestion was to move forward with induction, but my husband and I did not have peace with that, and Emily’s research based knowledge gave us reassurance in making the decision to wait a little longer. We waited a week and considered induction… but that’s when God answered our prayer and my contractions started!
Throughout my labor the doctors had many recommendations, but we were able to take our time and weigh out the benefits and risks of every option with Emily. I’m so thankful she was there with her knowledge and support, helping us feel at ease with every decision along the way. Giving birth is an amazing thing and God used Emily, Madeline, and the staff at the hospital to make it a beautiful moment in our lives. By the time our postpartum visit came up, it felt like a warm visit from a longtime friend. I recommend Emily to anyone who is hoping to pursue the support of a doula during their labor - especially if you are looking for someone who will earnestly join you in prayer and a heart of faith. I could see right off the bat that she is an empathetic, knowledgeable, and confident helper. She is a mama and wife herself and she thrives in all of these roles! We are truly grateful for you, Emily.
